VINIFICATION:
Destemming & cold maceration for 2 days, vinification in temperature controlled combined vat (1/3 of stainless steel and 2/3 of oak staves) for 12 days with regular pump-overs and délestages. Porstfermentation maceration for 10 days.

The vineyard: Ronchi is a cru in the village of Barbaresco on a steep slope facing East. It’s the continuation of the highest hill in the village, the top of which forms the cru Rabajà. The 2014 vintage has been one of the most complicated in the Langhe for the last couple of decades: hot and rainy spring, cold and rainy summer and only the sunny and dry September saved our harvest. The yields thow were substantially lower than the previous vintage.

The variety: The Nebbiolo is the king of the Langhe, the one with a world wide fame for producing wines to last and provide multiple pleasures with age. It’s our love and our passion, the variety that permits to «read and translate» the different terroirs of the Langhe better than the rest.

The wine: has been aged in tonneaux and barrels after one or two wines. The lots have been blended in June 2016 and the wine has been bottled one month later.

The name: the wine carries the name of the cru.

The label: represents the hand drawn map of the Ronchi vineyard that La Biòca rents from a local family. According to the pre-harvest data that we gather every year this plot produces the most «colored» Nebbiolo grapes (500-700 mg/l of anthocyanins) among the nearly 80 vineyards in Langhe & Roero, followed by the analytical center we make part of.
